Driving south west in direction Ohrid, located on hilly shores of the lake by the same name. Known as the Jerusalem of Balkans, because of 365 churches (one per day of the year) the city had. In 1980 both city and the lake were protected as Cultural Natural World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Visit the well-preserved town, starting from Upper Gate, Samuel Fortress, Ancient Theatre, Church of Saint Clement, Church of Saint John in Kaneo, Cathedral of Saint Sophia 10th century. Excursion toward monastery of Saint Naum built in 10th century. The driving distance is 30 km and the road pass in the middle of national park of Galicica with spectacular views over the deepest and oldest lake in the Balkans and high mountains. At the monastery complex visit the church and the famous springs, which feeds the lake with drinkable and crystal pure fresh waters. Free time in afternoon. Overnight in Ohrid.
Very beautiful nature and landscape will surround us during our drive towards south, passing next to the national park of Pelister. First stop at the ruins of ancient city of Heraclea, founded by King Philip II and named after the mythological hero Heracles. Than short walking tour in the center, pedestrian area of Bitola, the most important town in southern part of the country. Driving to Joannina, the largest and most important city Northern Greece. Center of the region known since ancient times as Epirus. Located on shores of Lake Pamvotida, will visit the fortress built in 528 A.D. by byzantine emperor Justinian, walking through old town, historical center. Still the visitors can feel the cultural and religious mixture, dominated by Islamic, Jewish and Christian strong influence. Overnight in Joannina.

Today will return in Albania, crossing the border in extreme southern part of the country. First visit in Butrinti. UNESCO World Heritage site considered the best archaeological site in Albania and probably one of the most important in the Balkans. The city was first settled by Greek colonists and was continuously inhabited for centuries forming archaeological layers of passing civilizations, giving archaeologists the possibility to study continuity through time. It is situated on a beautiful peninsula among dense vegetation. The site has been occupied since at least the 8th century BC till 20th century. Second visit will be in the beautiful city of Gjirokastra. Site protected by UNESCO World Heritage site for the very distinct architecture style and ancient history. Visit the fortress, Ethnographic Museum, Old bazaar. Overnight in Gjirokastra.

Driving up North in direction of another museum city listed and protected by UNESCO as World Heritage site. Known as White city, thanks to the traditional white-washed houses. Berat castle is of particular interest as people still live within its walls in their traditional houses, as have their ancestors have done for centuries. The castle used to have over 40 churches of which 7 still remain including St. Mary’s church turned into Onufri Museum. Visit also two other characteristic quartiers, Gorica and Mangalem. Overnight in Berat.
